CPR 35–Compliant Expert Reports (Liability & Causation)
I prepare detailed expert witness reports that meet all requirements set out in Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules. These reports are produced specifically for clinical negligence proceedings and typically include:
- A thorough, chronological review of the clinical management provided
- Evaluation of compliance with accepted standards of practice, national guidance (including NICE and the RCOG), and local trust policies
- A clear expert opinion on breach of duty and issues relating to liability
- A structured causation analysis, addressing whether any departures from expected care contributed to the alleged harm providing this is within my remit
- Robust logic which is evidence‑based or uses my clinical expertise for all findings and conclusions
- A full CPR 35 declaration confirming my understanding of the expert’s duties and my commitment to impartiality
Each report is written in a format that is accessible to both legal teams and healthcare professionals, with clinical terminology explained where necessary. I am also able to provide addendum reports, participate in conferences with Counsel, and attend Court to give oral evidence when required.

These concise, early‑stage reports support solicitors in determining the viability of potential claims. A screening report offers:

- Advice on whether commissioning a full CPR 35 report is appropriate

Early Notification Reports for NHS Resolution
I have extensive experience preparing expert reports for the NHS Resolution Early Notification Scheme (ENS). These reports are produced within strict timeframes and require prompt, comprehensive evaluation. I am familiar with the specific aims and expectations of the ENS process and provide clear opinions with flexibility to attend summits.
Professional Regulation Reports for the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)
I have experience with report writing for professional regulatory proceedings. I have attended a professional body fitness to practice hearing as an expert to give evidence. I have a strong working knowledge of the regulatory process and the evidential requirements involved.
Pro Bono Preliminary Assessments of Midwifery Cases
I recognise that some cases require an early expert view before funding or formal instruction can be secured. To support this, I offer a limited number of pro bono preliminary assessments for midwifery‑related matters. These complimentary reviews are restricted to a maximum of 30 minutes and are intended to provide an initial indication of whether further expert involvement may be appropriate.
While I am committed to assisting where I can, my capacity for unpaid work is necessarily limited to ensure I can continue to provide a high standard of service across all instructed cases. Pro bono assessments are therefore offered on a discretionary basis and subject to availability.
Pagination of Notes and Chronologies
A structured, table‑based chronology that sets out key past medical history, significant clinical events, and relevant record entries, supported by verbatim extracts for quick reference. This service includes full pagination and indexing of the records to ensure documents are clearly organised and easy to navigate. A concise case summary is also provided alongside the chronology.
